Michelle is a Consultant Solicitor at Richard Nelson LLP and primarily covers the north of England with a focus on Yorkshire. She is available to assist clients in employment matters, nationally.
Having qualified in 2004, Michelle has over 20 years of experience in advising both employer and employee clients. From 2011 to 2018 Michelle served as Director and Shareholder of Shore Stewart Limited, a specialist law firm in the north of England, providing employment law advice and commercially focussed HR support to small and medium – sized enterprises. In recent years Michelle has enjoyed advising and representing individuals whose professions are regulated by associated regulators, such as university professors, college lecturers, doctors, nurses, accountants, and government appointed individuals. This has involved advocating in the Employment Tribunal, advising on Employment Appeal Tribunal and the Court of Appeal litigation, internal representation during disciplinary hearings, negotiating settlement agreements and post-employment restrictions.
Michelle is an experienced trainer and can offer clients legal updates, internal management training, or supporting documentation, including employment related policies, contracts of employment, severance agreements and restrictive covenants.
In 2019 Michelle was appointed as a Trustee and Chair of the People Committee of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, a national charity, providing her with a valuable insight and commercial appreciation of the practical operation of employment law.
Michelle initially joined Richard Nelson in 2018 but has recently returned after a short career break during which she completed a Masters Degree.
